The New York Giants opened the 2026 preseason with a disappointing 13-10 loss to the Minnesota Vikings at MetLife Stadium on Saturday. The defeat marked John Harbaugh’s first game as Giants head coach and provided an early look at areas the team must improve before the regular season.

Quarterback Jaxson Dart showed flashes of promise, completing three of four passes for 26 yards and connecting with rookie wide receiver Malachi Fields on a touchdown pass. The Giants also received encouraging play from their running game and several young players competing for roster spots.

However, New York struggled against Minnesota’s rushing attack, while the offense was shut out in the second half. The Giants also had concerns in the secondary and lost veteran safety Jamal Adams to a knee injury during the game.

Despite the loss, the preseason opener gave Harbaugh valuable information as he evaluates his roster.
