Game 2 of the 3-game series between the Mets and Braves featured Bartolo Colon vs. Ervin Santana. Santana gemmed the Mets up in his first start vs. the Mets earlier in the season. The Mets would be out for revenge.

The Mets got on the board first in the bottom of the 1st when David Wright singled to center driving in Eric Young Jr. to propel the Mets to a 1-0 lead.

Top of the 3rd, the Braves would get the run back and then one when Freddie Freeman grounded to the pitcher to advance BJ Upton to third and Ervin Santana to second, Bartolo Colon fielded and botched the throw to first allowing Upton and Santana to score. Braves take a 2-1 lead.

The Braves add on another run in the top of the 5th when Freddie Freeman doubles to right field driving in Jason Heyward. 3-1 Braves.

The score would remain 3-1 until the top of the 8th, when Daisuke Matsuzaka relieved Bartolo Colon. He struck out Freddie Freeman to lead off the inning but then gave up a single to Justin Upton. Evan Gattis was up next, Upton stole second. Gattis grounds out to first, Upton to third. Dan Uggla up next, Dice-K throws a wild pitch that allows Upton to come in to score stretching the lead to 4-1.

The Mets would get back into this game in the bottom of the 8th. David Carpenter on in relief for Santana after another great performance vs the Mets. Daniel Murphy leads off with an infield single to second base. David Wright follows up with a single to right, Murphy goes first to third. Curtis Granderson continues his tumultuous start to his Mets career by popping out to third base. Chris Young singles to left, Murphy scores, Wright to second. Mets down 4-2. Lucas Duda flies out to right next. Then d’Arnaud singles to right center, Wright scores, Young goes first to third. Mets cut the lead to 4-3.

Jose Valverde would be on in relief for the Mets int he top of the 9th, making Mets fans collectively shake their heads. He would go on to give up a three run homer to Justin Upton to put the Braves up 7-3.

The Mets would again attempt to fight back in the bottom of the 9th. A David Wright RBI double cut the lead to 7-4 and a Chris Young RBI single cut the lead to 7-5. However that would be all the Metsies could muster up, dropping the second game of this series by a final score of 7-5.

Mets fall to 8-9, just 2-6 at home. Game 3 of this series is set for Sunday afternoon. Zack Wheeler vs. David Hale.
