Jets Battle Texans

NY Jets:  The Jets hosted the undefeated Houston Texans in prime time on Monday Night football.  It has been a very difficult season for the Jets, so far losing two of the team’s best players.  It’s a packed house here tonight as the fans are hoping for some kind of miracle win.

It didn’t take the Texans long to show why they are undefeated.  On their first possession, Matt Schaub drove the team down the field for the Texans’ touchdown, a 34-yard strike to Owen Daniels, 7-0 Texans.  The Jets offense stalled on their first possession and they were forced to punt.

Things started to shift late in the first quarter as the Jets defense forced the Texans to punt on their next two possessions.  Matt  Schuab was intercepted by Antonio Cromartie, giving the Jets good field position.  Marc Sanchez would finally get things going with two consecutive completions, ending in a 38-yard touchdown strike to Jeff Cumberland, tying 7-7  at the end of the 1st quarter.

The celebration would be short-lived, as the Texans drove the ball down the field with ease.  Schaub connected on three consecutive passes ending in a 13-yard touchdown run by Arian Foster, with the Texans leading 14 to 7 with 8:23 left before halftime.

The Jets continued to shoot themselves in the foot, with the ball in the red zone with 1:23 left before halftime.  Marc Sanchez was intercepted by the Texans’ Brice McCain, who scampered for 60-yards to the Jets 30-yard line.  Shayne Graham’s 27-yard field goal put the Texans up 17 to 7 at halftime.

Early in the 3rd quarter, the Jets special teams would come up big, with Joe McKnight returning a punt from the Texans, going 100- yards for the touchdown, leaving the Jets trailing 17 to 14 with 8:23 left in the 3rd quarter.  It was all down hill after that, as the Jets offense continued to struggle.

Marc Sanchez  played well, but he just doesn’t have enough weapons to overcome deficiency late in game.  The lose was a tough one at home 23 to 17.
