Rex’s Future In Jeopardy

ByVernon McKenzie

NY Jets: After a 0-4 pre-season, the Jets open the regular season on Sunday against inter-state rival, the Buffalo Bills.  Throughout the pre-season the Jet struggled offensively, unable to score an offensive touchdown.  Although a number of players were out due to injury, most believe the Jets offense still should have been more productive.

After every game during the pre-season, Jets’ head coach Rex Ryan would provide excuses to the local media about the ugly performance by the offense.  Most of the blame was geared toward the offensive line, in particular right tackle Wayne Hunter and his struggles to block opposing defensive players.

Lately the rumors have started to surface about Rex Ryan’s future with team.  Most are saying that if the Jets have a losing season, Rex could be fired.  All pre-season long we waited for the wildcat, the new offense the Jets have implemented with the addition of offensive coordinator Tony Soprano – but not once did we see it.

Will the wildcat save Rex’s job?  Only time will tell.
