The stars of the New York baseball scene have selected their teammates for this Saturday’s Home Run Derby  at Citi Field during a segment on this evening’s SportsCenter.

David Wright will be competing along side Bryce Harper of the Washington Nationals, in addition to  Carlos Gonzalez and Michael Cuddyer of the Colorado Rockies,

Robinson Cano has selected Prince Fielder of the Detroit Tigers and Chris Davis of the Baltimore Orioles, but still has to make one more selection, which he says will be done tomorrow.

Gonzalez is the leading home run hitter among the NL participants with a National League leading 24. Cuddyer has hit 15, Wright has hit 13, while Harper has hit 13 in just 52 games played.

The AL team features the league leader in homers as Davis has hit 33 so far this season. Cano has hit 20 and Fielder has hit 15 to round out the AL roster so far.

At this point I would make the AL the heavy favorite as they feature a two time winner in Fielder, a one time champion in Cano, and the major league leader in homers in Davis. However Citi Field is a pretty spacious ballpark, so there is a chance that Wright’s familiarity with the park could help him and his teammates.
