New York City came together Sunday, September 27, for the 25th Annual Tunnel to Towers 5K Run & Walk, a milestone event honoring the memory and sacrifice of the heroes of September 11, 2001. The event retraced the final journey of FDNY Firefighter Stephen Siller, who ran through the Brooklyn-Battery Tunnel toward the World Trade Center after learning that the city was under attack.

Thousands of runners, walkers, first responders, veterans, families, and supporters participated in the approximately 3.5-mile course, which began in Brooklyn and finished in Lower Manhattan.

The 25th anniversary carried special significance as the Tunnel to Towers Foundation continued its mission of remembering those lost while supporting first responders, military families, veterans, and others in need. The foundation’s 2026 anniversary activities also include its 343 Homes initiative and programs addressing veteran homelessness.
The annual run remains a powerful reminder of courage, sacrifice, service, and the enduring commitment to Never Forget
