Queens, NY  April 4, 2015  One fighter is originally from Haiti, and the other from Cameroon. The fight took place in Quebec, Canada, and was broadcast on American television.  How’s that for international flavor.  Adonis “Superman” Stevenson 26-1, 21 KOs, easily outpointed Sakio “The Scorpion” Bika 32-7-3, 21 KOs.  The judges had the fight scored, 116-1110, 115-111, and 115-110.  Puresportsny had the fight scored 117-109 (nine rounds to three with two extra points given due to the knockdowns).

Stevenson dictated the pace in a non-eventful first round.  In the second round, Stevenson continued to press the action even though the best punch in the round was a left hook by Bika to the side of Stevenson’s hand.  Towards the end of the round, Stevenson answered with punch that appeared to stun Bika, but Bika was off balance.  I gave the round to Stevenson.

In the third round, Bika backed Stevenson against the ropes and landed substantial punches and became, for the first time in the fight, the agressor.  Bika won his first round.  Stevenson landed a few solid left hooks early in the fourth round.  Bika and Stevenson exchanged hard shots a minute into the round.  Once again, Bika was the aggressor throughout the round.  Going into the fifth round, I had the fight a draw.  That is when Stevenson asserted himself and hurt Bika several times in the round.  In the sixth round, Stevenson, who landed hard punches throughout the round, was awarded a knockdown even though the replay showed the fighters’ feet got tangled.  Bika went on the attack in the second, but most if his punches were blocked.  Stevenson landed the cleaner and harder blows.  Towards the end of the round, Stevenson landed a barrage of punches that rocked Bika, but Bika landed a hard right.  The round was clearly Stevenson’s.

The eighth round featured pretty much the same action.  Bika was coming forward landing almost never–and Stevenson baiting Bika and landing counterpunches.  In the few remaining seconds of the round, Bika backed Stevenson against the ropes and landed some  punches; however, Stevenson one the round based upon landing cleaner punches.  Stevenson came out aggressively in the beginning of the ninth round.  He backed Bika against the ropes and landed some vicious body blows.  Bika weathered the storm and resumed his game plan which was to come forward.  Stevenson landed a powerful straight left that knocked Bika down.  Bika may have not lasted, but luckily for him, there was no time left in the round.  Stevenson came out strong in the tenth looking for a knockout.  He attacked Bika’s body.  Bika regained his composure and his legs and was able to finish the round.  In the eleventh round, Bika landed three consecutive right hands that appeared to momentarily stun Stevenson, but Stevenson quickly answered with two hard punches that stopped Bika in his tracks.  Stevenson came out attacking looking for a stoppage in the final round.  Bika cornered Stevenson against the ropes and landed several hard rights to which Stevenson shook his head, smiled, and waved to the crowd. With under 30 seconds, the two fighters clashed heads with Stevenson getting the worst of it as blood trickled from above his left eye.

Adonis Stevenson is looking to fight multi-belt titlist Sergey Kovalev. A showdown between these two big punchers would be one of the more anticipated fights in the sports.  Hopefully it won’t take five years to make this fight.
