The Nets fall short by a score of 95-90 during their experimentation preseason game against the Boston Celtics this past Sunday. With the deduction of taking off a minute for each quarter, the average 2 hour and 15 minute NBA game turned out to be only 1 hour and 58 minutes. This was also the Nets first game at the Barclay’s Center to kick off this upcoming season. I think one of the biggest positives thus far is the soon-to-be 10-year veteran and catalyst on this Nets team, Deron Williams, who is so far looking fluent out on the court. It’s crazy to think this guy is already entering into his 10th season (5th with Brooklyn) but we’d all like to be under the impression that Deron had been unfortunately hampered with pain in both his ankles throughout all of last season instead of thinking otherwise. That “otherwise” has been speculated on whether if Deron could be on the decline of his career while he fades out of his prime.

Outside of his rookie season, Deron posted up career lows with points and assists being the most noticeable. With Lionel Hollins taking over as Head Coach, the way for this Brooklyn Nets team to be even considered as a real force in the Eastern Conference must start with a healthy playmaking Deron Williams getting the wheels onto the right track with this new motion system offense. We’re only about 10 days away from the real start of the tip off, which will take place against none other then the Boston Celtics over at the TD Garden.
