In a game that went back and forth, the Giants started the game hot with a fumble recovery followed by a touchdown. San Francisco was running through the Giant’s defense easily until they reached the red-zone. 49er running back, Frank Gore, slipped and fumbled the ball on the team’s first possession. It was recovered by Giants corner Zach Bowman. After the takeaway, Eli threw two shots across the middle of the field to Randle and the Giants finished the drive with a 19 yd touchdown pass to Larry Donnell.

Although the Giants defense bent, they did not break as they held strong within the 20 for most of the game. The 49ers had to settle for two field goals on their second and third possessions of the game. Then on offense, Eli Manning was intercepted by 49ers rookie, Chris Borland. Borland was a guy many Giants talked about earlier in the week. He made the play on Giants rookie Odell Beckham Jr., who was trying to run a slant across the middle.

San Francisco gained possession inside New York’s 20 and the Giants defense held them once again to another field goal.

Down 9-7 Eli Manning then looked back to TE Larry Donnell who made an amazing catch downfield to bring the Giants back into 49ers territory. As New York neared the end zone, Eli threw another pick. This time to Michael Wilhoite. The Niners took over at their own 15, but were stopped and forced to punt.

After the half, Colin Kaepernick found Michael Crabtree for a 48 yd touchdown pass to add to the lead. It was Crabtree’s longest of the year.

The Giants responded with a field goal and then a attempted an onside kick. The onside kick worked as Josh Brown was able to knock the ball out and Herzlich recovered. It was a risky move that could have changed the games momentum for New York, but then the ball went right back to San Francisco.

Trying to lead Randle, Manning was intercepted by Eric Reid. It was Manning’s third interception of the day and another Giants momentum killer.

At this point it was like the the Giants were playing against each other. The offense was hurting them, but the defense was doing everything in their power to win the game.

With the 49ers ready to take a field goal and go up by two possessions, San Francisco muffed the snap and Phil Dawson was forced to throw incomplete. The defense once again held up strong and put the offense in good field position. The Giants challenged a play after it put them at fourth and inches. The play was not reversed and the team decided to go for it near midfield. Jennings lost yardage and the Niners regained possession.

With ten minutes left in the game the game still 16-10 New York got the ball back with another chance to take the lead. With two big plays to Odell Beckham Jr, Eli was finally driving the team downfield…then game Manning’s fourth interception of the game. The Niners then took over at their own 20 yard line and were forced to punt.

The Giants had their chance in the end though, but faltered. Hope was provided with an almost impossible catch by Odell Beckham that brought them down inside the 10, but the team couldn’t find the end zone on four downs and turned the ball over inside the five with an interception to Chris Borland.

The Giants fall to 3-7 and will play the Cowboys back home again next week for a Sunday Night Football showdown. The Giants will be playing spoiler for the rest of the season so it is a game to watch.
