Here is what you need to know when it comes to  the Giant’s Sunday night game in the city of not so brotherly love:

The Giants (3-2) are finally making strides, winning three games in a row now and the Eagles (4-1) are tied for the division lead with the Cowboys. With the Cowboys playing in Seattle this week, there is a good chance they pick up a loss keeping them at four wins. Now although that is predetermined, if that does happen and the Giants win they might be looking at being tied for the division lead. If the Eagles can pull off this one at home, it’s possible (with a Cowboys loss) that they could be in sole possession of the division by the weekends end.

What To Look For:

Cromartie vs Maclin

Look for the Giants to match up Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie with Eagles big play man, Jeremy Maclin. Although Julio Jones put up some big yards last week in the first half of the game, Cromartie has done a nice job keeping his guy out of the end zone and hasn’t allowed the big play lately. Desean Jackson and Julio Jones were both not allowed a touchdown pass with Cromartie covering them. In fact the secondary as a whole has 8 interceptions compared to giving up only 5 touchdowns so far this season.

Jason Pierre-Paul vs Jason Peters

To put it simply Jason Pierre-Paul will be going up against one of the best lineman in the NFL, but it doesn’t matter. His importance in this game is huge. If he can get to Foles and apply the pressure, the Eagles will be that much more pressured into making a mistake against a secondary that has intercepted the ball plenty of times this year. Pierre-Paul is ranked Pro Football Focus’s best 4-3 defensive end in the league this year and part of that is due to his great coverage against the run. With a shifty LeSean McCoy and Darren Sproles in the backfield, JPP needs to help keep them in their cage.

Giants Rookies

RB Andre Williams and Odell Beckham Jr. will both be big pieces on offense for the Giants. Williams will take over injured Rashad Jenning’s role as the teams back and Beckham Jr. will line up for his second game this year hoping to make it two weeks in a row with a touchdown pass. There is no question the play of the rookies will play a huge factor in Sunday’s game.

Eagles Trash Talking Continues:

Yet again the Eagles continued their trash talking with the Giants this week and although New York wasn’t feeding into it, the Eagles did take it to the next level for this week’s game. The Eagles released a cartoon video this week that took a shot at Eli Manning. In the video “Little Eli” shows up to Lincoln Financial Field all prepared for the game until out of nowhere the lights go out.

All of a sudden Eagles linebackers show up as ghosts and mock the Giants quarterback.

“We’re coming to get you Eli,” the ghoulish-looking players say in the background.

The video shows Manning running in the dark, his jersey pulled over his face, his underwear pulled up over his shorts as he reaches out to feel what’s in front of him, unable to see.

“This is horrible,” Manning says in the video. “I can’t see a thing. Somebody please, fix my underwear. I’m so scared. Every single time with these Eagles. Get me out of Philadelphia,” he says bawling as the video fades to black

The whole video was honestly distasteful to me and couldn’t have come at the wrong time with all of the latest scandals surrounding the league. I’m sure the Eaglea fans will get a kick out of it, but then again I’ve always been a “it’s all about how you play on game day” type of fan.

Final Thoughts:

Although I can see the Giants having a mishap on special teams, I still believe they will pull this one out. I feel that the Giants secondary is still only getting better and if they do a good job up front vs a mixed up Philly line they can create some turnovers that may lead to some big points for New York. On offense if the Giants continue to do well on the ground, like I’m expecting, it will just help even further to keep Eli in rhythm.

Prediction: 31-27  Giants
