Glen Grunwald out as Knicks GM; Replaced by Steve Mills

In somewhat surprising news, the Knicks have announced that they have replaced, now former GM Glen Grunwald with Steve Mills. Grunwald joined the Knicks in 2006 as the assistant GM under the Isiah Thomas regime, and was promoted to GM in 2012, after the Knicks departed with Donnie Walsh (in another somewhat surprising move).

Grunwald built the Knicks a contending team in the East, and will remain with the organization.  James Dolan had this to say about the move, “I am pleased to be able to welcome Steve back to the Knicks. He is a well-respected sports executive with a strong background in basketball, as well as a familiarity with NBA operations and our company. We look forward to his leadership and believe he is the right person to help us reach our ultimate goal of winning an NBA Championship”.
