Who is Jason Kidd? Previously a point guard in the NBA, he was a ten-time NBA All Star, a five-time ALL NBA First Team member, and a nine-time NBA All Defensive Team member. He won an NBA Championship in 2011 as a member of the Dallas Mavericks, and was a two-time Olympic Gold Medal winner during his pro career, as part of Team USA in 2000 and 2008. He was drafted second overall by the Mavericks in the first round of the 1994 NBA Draft. He was named co-NBA Rookie of The Year in his first season with the Mavericks. Then, from 1996 to 2001, Kidd played for the Pheonix Suns and later for the New Jersey Nets from 2001 to 2008. He led the Nets to two consecutive NBA Finals appearances in 2002 and 2003. In the middle of the 2007–08 season, Kidd was traded back to Dallas, where he won his only NBA championship in 2011. After finishing his playing career with the New York Knicks in 2012–13, he retired and returned a week later as head coach for the now Brooklyn Nets.

Now that we know who this man is let’s look at what he has done.

Jason Kidd is the only coach to lead 2 different teams to the NBA playoffs in his first 2 years as a head coach. He did it first in Brooklyn by leading newly minted Nets to the secound round in playoffs, and now the Milwaukee Bucks team went from 15-67 last year to playoff berth this year.

A few of the notable names being tossed around for Coach of the Year are Steve Kerr of the Warriors, who was supposed to be Phil’s protege for the New York gig, but turned it down, Mike Budenholzer of the Atlanta Hawks, the former San Antonio assistant who has actually made it fun to watch Atlanta Hawks and of course the great Greg Popovich of San Antonio who won last year.

Coach of the Year is selected by a panel of sports writers from the U.S and Canada, there is no rhyme or reason to the selection and no must meet criteria in order to win, just be a fan favorite.

Based on these tweets he is a fan favorite,  we are rooting for Jason Kidd Coach of the Year

  1. Jason Kidd gets my Vote for Coach Of the Year! ! Steve Kerr doesn’t deserve to win. GState was already a contender

  2. It’s Going To Go Seven Games Just Cause Jason Kidd Is A Good & Underrated Coach He Got His Whole Team Maximizing Their Skills
