Jets Season In Jeopardy

NY Jets: Sunday at MetLife Stadium, the Miami Dolphins crushed the New York Jets, 23-3. This was a must win game for both teams, however, it came down to which team would take advantage on offense. Both teams came into this game with 5-6 records. The Jets were losers of their last 2 heading into the game.

The first half was a tale of two teams. The Jets defense was at its best, holding the Dolphins to 6 points at halftime. The offense was a different story, and the story was not a happy one. Geno Smith threw for 29 yards, 0 touchdowns, and 1 interception. The Jets had 39 total yards for the first half. They were dominated in the possessions game as the Dolphins held the ball for 24:12. The Jets only held the ball for 5:43.

As the second half began, the crowd at MetLife was in an uproar. Seeing Matt Simms enter the game gave the fans some excitement. Rex Ryan decided to bench Geno Smith after his putrid performance. Simms came into the game, but was unable to mount any attack on offense. Simms threw for 79 yards, 0 touchdowns, and 1 interception. The Jets were only able to score 3 points in the game leading to a mass exodus from the fans. On Miami’s side, Ryan Tannehill threw for 331 yards, 2 touchdowns and 1 interception. Brian Hartline and Mike Wallace each caught a touchdown from Tannehill.

This loss might crush any hopes the Jets have of making the playoffs. They are not technically out, but they are on life support. They must win out if they have any shot of making the playoffs. The Jets will face the Oakland Raiders next Sunday. Game time is set for 1:00pm.
