East Rutherford NJ: The New York Jets hosted the Philadelphia Eagles in their last preseason game on Thursday night, defeating the Eagles 16 to 10. The team ended the preseason with two wins and two losses. Speculations are the Jets will be of the worst teams this season. The players have a different perspective. Moral is high heading into the opener against the Buffalo Bills on September 10th.
Starting quarterback and Josh Mccown was kicked up in the first series. It appeared he may have suffered a rib injury. McCown return to game and led the team on a drive that ended in a feild goal by Kicker Chandler Catanzaro 27 yard attempt. McCown finished 6 of 8 for 57 yards. Running back Bilal Powell ran for five yards on six attempts, and caught two passes for 23 yards. Tight end Austin Seferian-Jenkins had a 20-yard catch to help setup the Jets’ field goal.
Christian Hackenberg replaced McCown not Bryce Petty. Hackenberg 12 yard touchdown pass to Austin Jenkins back of the end zone gave the Jets a 10 to 3 lead late in the second quarter. He finished 10-22 for 105 yards, one touchdown, three sacks and two fumbles. He played 52 snaps for the Jets as Bryce Petty sat the entire game.
Defensively, the Jets deployed a mix of starters and backups for the first two drives. Defensive linemen Muhammad Wilkerson, Sheldon Richardson, Leonard Williams and Steve McLendon were given the night off, but the first-team linebackers and corner backs played.
