While the Knicks playoff chances are in serious doubt they came into the Garden continuing to fight hard on friday night against the Utah Jazz. After a seven game losing streak, the Knicks have now won two straight with the team as desparate as they can get with hopes of still making the playoffs. Knowing how much every game means for their playoff chances the Knicks came in and separated themselves from the Jazz early without any thoughts of looking back as they downed the Jazz 108-81.

Carmelo Anthony started hot scoring 18 points in the first quarter. This added to a 39 point first quarter for the Knicks which set them into cruise control for the rest of the game. In this two game winning streak the Knicks are really getting off to hot starts scoring 38 and 39 points in the previous two first quarters. Anthony also tied a season high with 8 assists and JR Smith contributed 17 points to New York’s total. Tyson Chandler had a double double with 16 points and 11 rebounds. Amare Stoudemire, who has found his way into the starting lineup, also had 10 points for New York.

Anthony was again questioned about his future with the Knicks but reassured that he is just focused on playing basketball.

The Jazz continued to struggle as they lost their fifth straight game and will end their road trip on Saturday in Philadelphia. They were led by Gordon Hayward and Alec Burke who each had 18 points. Enes Kanter had the team high with 9 rebounds on the night.

The Knicks will travel to Cleveland to take on the Cavs Saturday night as they look for their third straight win. So far the Knicks are 1-1 against the Cavs this season but the Knicks need to treat every game as a must win if they have any chance at getting into the playoffs.
