After spending two seasons as Tom Coughlin’s offensive coordinator, Ben McAdoo has stepped up to become the New York Giants 17th head coach in Giants history. McAdoo is taking over Tom Coughlin who has served as the Giants head coach for 12 seasons. While Giants Quarterback Eli Manning was sad to watch Coughlin step down, he made sure his voice was heard to make sure the Giants didn’t get rid of McAdoo. Manning said in a radio interview, “I guess from a selfish standpoint, yes, I’d like to be in the same offense. I think McAdoo and I work well together, and our preparation and getting ready for each week. I think this year, I think I really had a firm grasp of the offense and what we were doing, we were on the same page and I think we did a good job.”

The New York Giants held a press conference on Friday, McAdoo said, “I’m honored to serve as the Giants 17th head coach in the history of the New York Giants franchise. “I am thankful to the Mara family, The Tisch family and Jerry Reese for this opportunity. It’s been a privilege to work and learn under coach Coughlin. I have been preparing for this moment my entire professional life and without the guidance and support of many people, I would not be here right now.”

New York Giants President, CEO-Co owner stated during the Press Conference: “Ben is an outstanding young coach who has great experience and has done a good job as our offensive coordinator these past two years,” Mara said. “Jerry and I interviewed six impressive candidates, and when we were through with that process, we had another conversation with Ben, as did Steve and Jon Tisch. We were all impressed with his energy, his enthusiasm, his vision and his desire. Ben has been preparing for this opportunity since he started coaching, and he has earned his stripes every step of the way. Some have suggested he may not be ready, and as I said last week, we want a coach who feels like he has something to prove.”
