If the New York Knicks, Brooklyn Nets rivalry couldn’t get any juicer; think again. The Knicks have agreed to terms for MWP for a 2-year deal at $1.6 million annually with a player option for year-2. This means that the Knicks used the remainder of their ‘mini-midlevel’ exception to get the deal done.

Metta’s first tweet since signing with the Knicks… Where Brooklyn at? Metta brings a certain level of toughness that the Knicks were clearly lacking last year. MWP has always expressed interest in playing for his hometown team, after growing up in Queens and going to college at St. John’s. Coach Woodson is on record as saying, “I like his skill sets a lot. I think a lot of teams have liked his skill sets over the years. He does a little bit of everything.”

This off-season the Knicks have quietly acquired players they were desperately lacking last year. Drafting Hardaway Jr., trading for Bargnani and know signing MWP, places the Knicks with a very deep and talented roster. As for the Knick, Net rivalry; it is sure going to be interesting seeing these teams trade jabs all season long.
