Brooklyn Back In Series

BROOKLYN – One might say that this series should have and could have very well been 2 games to 1 in favor of the Brooklyn Nets.  That would be for the cynics, double-talkers, told ya so and naysayers to gloss over.  The Nets with more energy, better ball movement and more urgency led basically wire to wire in besting the number one seeded Atlanta Hawks 91-83.

Part of the Nets’ success was a devastating 18-0 run from late in the third quarter to early in the fourth quarter.  That domination occurred just after the regular season 60-22 Hawks rallied to take their first lead since the very early minutes at 62-58.

Hawks Coach Mike Budenholzer said of the Nets, “It’s going to be a series.”  The Nets indeed are not intimidated by the Hawks despite their seeding and being the prohibited underdog.  Had Game 2 had a few breaks here and there, the Nets know they would have been in control.

Despite the dramatic win, the Nets know they’re still not out of the woods yet.  Frankly one never is until they’ve reached and won that best of seven 4th game.  There’s no time for let downs and chest thumping as if something was accomplished.  No team in NBA basketball has ever come back from a 3-0 deficit and won a series.

Brook Lopez was again unstoppable with 22 points and 13 rebounds.  The Nets survived one at home which was expected.  The true test now will be Game 4 on Monday night.
