The Brooklyn Nets held their highly anticipated media day yesterday at the Barclays Center. The BIG 5, Deron Williams, Paul Pierce, Joe Johnson, Kevin Garnett and Brook Lopez all took the podium to address to press and answer questions. This was the first time the Brooklyn media had a chance to speak with KG and Pierce, and it was KG’s and Pierce’s first time taking the New York media head on (not as villains, but as part of the home team).

Trading for Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett in the off-season, along with the additions of Jason Terry and Andrei Kirilenko makes the Nets an instant contender.

Pierce and KG were very gracious; accommodating the media and making jokes at their press conference. They are still in a state of shock that they are actually in New York, however one thing remained clear; they only came here to win a championship.

The press were allowed to speak 1-on-1 with everyone besides the starting 5. The starting 5 were made available via press conference. Jason Kidd did not speak but was available for team photos.
