Despite ranking 30th in scoring offense last season, the New York Giants have a ton of upside to their offense. Many suspect that without the elite playmaker Saquon Barkley, their offense would only continue to decline. That said, some forget key injuries prevented the Giants from reaching their full potential. Heading into this season, they are returning two of their top offensive linemen, Evan Neal & Andrew Thomas. Not to mention, the return of Daniel Jones will be key to these skill-position players. This offseason, it will be key to gain repetition with some of his playmakers, and as training camp has progressed it’s clear that rookie WR Malike Nabers continues to impress.
“He looks confident when he’s just running, I’m just so proud of him,” Giants WR Jalin Hyatt explains what he’s noticed from Jones this offseason. “I’ve seen what he went through last year. All the injuries and what he’s done this offseason. I’m just proud of what he has done and I can’t wait to watch him play. We as receivers, want to be confident for him so he can just throw it and we can just make plays. And that’s what we try to do in that receiver room to give him that confidence. Every day, every day, just got to keep working. I’m proud of what he has done so far.”
Experience is the Greatest Teacher
The experience is key to the Giants success and with a veteran player like Darius Slayton in the room to help guide some of these younger talented receivers it can be beneficial. Slayton brings a unique perspective to the Giants because the teams he’s been a part of have ranged from each end of the spectrum. Meaning, that he understands his role when the team is playing well, but also when they’re playing poorly. He also has played against the best and can leverage this experience to overall helping expand inexperienced receivers game.
“I’ve been through three staffs and four offensive systems,” Slayton emphasizes. “I feel like I’ve seen a good bit and I’ve been around a lot of players, so I try to do anything I can from guys in the past or throughout my experience in games. I always try my best to share with the younger guys and help them develop as fast as possible.”

The Giants offense has all the potential in the world, however it’s a matter if Jones can remain healthy and put together a season similar in 2022. Jones recorded 3,205 passing yards, 15 touchdowns, and 5 interceptions in 2022, however in 2023 only playing in six games his stats were not comparable. This season, leaves for a ton of space of optimism and the offense can help lead the way with the potential. Their first big test comes early next week against the Detroit Lions.
