No Surprise the NY Jets Choose Defense in the 2013 NFL Draft

NY Jets: Well everyone in the NFL can agree that Rex Ryan knows what to do with the defense when it comes to an organization. Offense…well lets save that for another day. So basically, in the 2013 NFL draft, the Jets take Dee Milliner with the 9th pick, and Sheldon Richardson with the 13th pick.

Milliner, the former Alabama cornerback is a physical player that stood out in the combine and was slated for a top 15 pick in the draft. He’ll fit in well with Rex Ryan and the defensive coaches. He can play inside and outside, and disrupt the opposing offense.

Milliner told the New York Daily News, “I know they probably like me even more now since they got rid of Revis.” At the end of the day, the Jets can’t be mad since Milliner less expensive than Revis. In total, Milliner started 30 of 39 games for the Alabama, finishing with 136 tackles and six interceptions. At the combine he ran a 4.37 40-yard dash.

Sheldon Richardson at 294 pounds is very athletic. The former Missouri defensive tackle will provide intensity that will rub off on the rest of the defense and create a new synergy on the field.

The Jets still have many holes to fill on the roster, and many fans and analysts don’t really agree with the decision the Jets made with this pick up. Nobody is denying Sheldon’s talent, yet they just don’t get it when it comes to this pick.

Sheldon Richardson’s effort against Alabama last fall when he had a game-high 14 tackles against one of the country’s best offensive lines was a standout effort for him. Only time will tell how he will impact the NY Jets.
