ODELL BECKHAM RULED OUT VS JETS

Giant’s WR Odell Beckham will not see action this weekend versus the Jets. He seemed to come up a little sore on a play in Monday’s practice and didn’t practice on Tuesday. Beckham said Tuesday that he took the day off to prevent a setback and doesn’t feel like it will be a problem looking forward.

“We have progressively built up my workload,” Beckham said. “I was sore this morning, and I didn’t work today because we didn’t want a setback, and I don’t consider this a setback. I see it as another step in getting back to full strength.”

Coach Coughlin wasn’t even aware of anything until Tuesday morning when he was told the receiver was feeling sore after Monday’s practice. He didn’t expand on the injury more than that.

“I didn’t even realize … because one of the last plays of practice yesterday, he caught a pass and ran down the sideline and looked pretty darn good,” Coughlin said. “But he evidentially was sore this morning. They don’t feel like it’s a re-injury, but they’re going to continue to be cautious if that’s what it takes. They’re saying no setback. That’s kind of where we are on it.”

Coach stated a few weeks ago how frustrating it can be handling a injury like this, but the Giants have to do the right thing and be precautionary until he is fully healthy for the regular season.

The LSU receiver has been dealing with a hamstring injury throughout camp and hasn’t seen much time on the field. Beckham’s last chance before the season opener will be next week at home vs New England.
