NY MSG:  The Knicks are back at the World’s Most Famous Arena for the start of the 2012-13 season.  Knicks Captain Carmelo Anthony addressed the capacity crowd, thanking the fans for coming out to support the team. Although the Garden was sold out it really lacked energy, for  a game of this magnitude.

The Knicks got out to an early start, led by Carmelo and Jason Kidd. It appeared as if the Heat were disinterested at the beginning of the game. Carmelo Anthony was the leading scorer in the first half  7 of 10 with 20 points. Tyson Chandler chipped in with 9 points, giving the Knicks a 55- to-44  lead at the half.

It was more of the same in the third quarter, as the Knicks continued to pour it on.  Pushing the lead to 18 points with 4:34 left in the third quarter. Offensively the Knicks were clicking on all cylinders, making it look easy against the defending NBA champs.

Miami’s bench was a non-factor in the game, Ray Allen didn’t  score until late in the 3rd quarter. The Knicks dropped 19 three-pointers on the Heat, something you would not expect from defensive minded team. By the end of the 3rd quarter the lead had ballooned to 21 points.

Miami finally came to life in the fourth quarter as Lebron James started to heat up, with back-to-back baskets to begin the fourth quarter. Lebron did not appear to be his usual self, although he led the Heat in scoring with 23 points. Carmelo Anthony led the Knicks with 30 points as the Knicks defeated the defending NBA Champions 104-t0-84
