The Brooklyn Nets played their season opening game in Detroit. They came out aggressive and showed promise as they scored the first 8 points, while Jarrett Allen showed up early with a defensive block on Blake Griffins dunk attempt. As the Nets pulled away in the first quarter going on a 12 point lead, the Detroit Pistons were able to make key offensive plays allowing them to tie the game 51-51 to close the first half.

As the Pistons opened the 2nd half they went on a timely run, going on a 13 point lead in the middle of the 3rd quarter. The Nets fought to hold off the Pistons; but as the 4th quarter winded down the Nets found themselves down 4 approaching the 1 minute mark; Guard Joe Harris drilled a well-timed 3 putting the Nets within 1 with 52 seconds to go. As time ran off the clock, the Pistons turned the ball over giving the Nets the opportunity to take the lead and win the game.
