April 10, 2015  Queens, NY  Yesterday, Tiger Woooed.  He Woooed the course and the crowd at Augusta National Golf Club.  He had three birdies and four bogeys leaving him 1 over after the first 18 holes.  Today, Tiger kept the “Tiger in the Tank” and bettered his first round which surprised even his staunchest critics.  He is rounding into shape right before our eyes.  He is kicking off the cobwebs, shaking off the rust.

Tiger had four birdies and one bogey this afternoon.  That’s progress, significant progress.  He shot a second round 69 (-3) which left him on the periphery of contention at 2 under par.  Too bad we didn’t get to see Tiger or Jordan Spieth play today, at least not on live television.  ESPN’s coverage didn’t begin until 3 p.m. (EST), and both golfers were finished beforehand.  The Masters has its traditions.  In this case, “tradition” didn’t “jibe” with common sense.  Your two biggest attractions are in the club house, and afterwards the lights and cameras come on.  You’re kidding, right?  Arrogance and Idiocy are a bad tandem that should never be coupled.

Tiger is 12 shots back behind the leader (Spieth) who is no ordinary 21 year old.  Spieth seems determined to get his green (jacket, not money).  If you get the “jacket” the “money” will come.  Spieth knows this.  And so does his endorser, Under Armour.

Most of the BIG names are on the BIG board.  Els, Day, Rose, Johnson, Matsuyama, McIlroy, and Mickelson.  Saturday is going to be great.  Sunday is going to be even greater.  Especially if Tiger is on the BIG board.

Note: Legendary golfer Ben Crenshaw played his last round after participating in 44 Masters events.  Crenshaw and his caddie since 1976, Carl Jackson, had a memorable embrace that led many an eye to well up with tears.
