East Ruterford: On a gourgues Sunday afternoon at Metlife Stadium, Giants fans were optimist about the return of Daniel Jones. Jones missed most of last seasson after suffering a torn ACL.
Jones struggled mightily as the Giants suffered a blowout loss at the hands of Sam Darnold and the Minnesota Vikings, losing by the final score of 28-6 on Sunday.
New York fell in an early 14-3 hole in the second quarter and was never able to recover, mustering just 240 yards of offense. Jones finished 22-of-42 for 186 yards, throwing an interception that was returned for a touchdown by Vikings defensive end Andrew Van Ginkel.
Malik Nabers was one of the few bright spots for New York, as the No. 6 overall pick in the 2024 draft still finished with five catches for 66 yards despite the team’s poor offensive output.
The Giants will attempt to bounce back in their Week 2 matchup against the Washington Commanders.
