November 4, 2015, New York City  Boxer Adrien Broner addressed the details of what happened during a taping of VH1’s hit show, Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta during an interview this week on New York radio station, Hot 97. Broner says he was contacted by friend Karlie Redd, an original cast member of the show, who invited him to do an interview about Redd’s Playboy venture. His manager advised him to participate because it would be “good publicity following the fight.” But what happened on set was unexpected, according to Broner.

“I didn’t know Karlie was doing the damn interview,” he says. “I’m like, I’m here, I’m gonna do it anyway. Then they [producers] were like ‘they want to see chemistry and eye contact.’”

At that point, reality set in and Broner exited the set with his manager and brother. The super lightweight champion asserts that he wasn’t going to compromise his relationship with fiancée, Arienne Gazaway, for a spot on television. “What can Love and Hip Hop do for me? I’m on TV all the time,” he adds.

During the Hot 97 Interview, Broner also mentions that Floyd Mayweather is the only boxer he watches. This tidbit contradicts the rumors about the protege and mentor facing off in a match next year.
