NY Knicks: The Boston Celtics have risen from the ashes so many prematurely burried them under. It’s hard to believe the Knicks were threatening to sweep this series just a mere 4 days ago, but last nights win erased all notions of an easy series and put Boston right back in the fight to stay alive! The Celtics held off the Knicks (92-86) for the second time to avoid a sweep with a great deal of credit going to their defense which held the Knicks to an average of 94 points on just 37% shooting over the last two games.

Although the Knicks were without J.R Smith (one game suspension) in Sunday night’s loss in Boston, they were at full force last night and still managed to lay an egg and at home in front of thousands of anxious New York fans nonetheless. Suddenly you can hear echos of doubt and pessimism from New York fans who know all too well what disappointment in Knick fan land feels like.  The thought of the most famous arena in the world hosting, yet agin, a first round exit for its’ franchise NBA team seems almost exhausting.  As terrible as it would be, it would be HISTORIC! No team in NBA history has ever fought back from a 0-3 deficit and won the series and the Knicks seem to love to be on the wrong side of history, so it’s certainly a possibility.

Alas, the Knicks are technically still in control of this series with a 3-2 lead on the Celtics. A win in Boston to close out the series would put an end to any doubt about this team’s mental toughness.  No questioning Carmelo’s leadership or Mike Woodson’s coaching. Winning is the cure to everything! Of course, the probability of the Knicks closing out in Celtics’ territory seems slim at best. Doesn’t it feel like they’ve awoken the sleeping Giant and injected them (Celtics) with a burst of energy? Kevin Garnett certainly brought the intensity last night leading the way for the Celtics with a double double. They ought to be running on fuels, on tired legs  with all the miles they’ve put on but no, the Celtics have all but caught up in this series. Lesson to the Knicks, never let a team show up late in a series and give them ample opportunities to catch up; with enough momentum, the odds may just break in their way .

With all that said, NO Knick fan wants to bare the burden of having to relive the awful memory of the Knick’s HUGE and HISTORIC choke job.  I’m certain no Knick wants to see Kevin Garnett pounding his chest or trash talking his way throughout any future Knicks/Celtics matchup, so a win is absolutely NECESSARY! Lets. GO. Knicks!
