Jets Extend Sanchez

NY Jets: The Jets Inks their man Marc Sanchez get 5 year extension, putting to bed any rumors of Peyton Manning coming to New York.  Sanchez, 25, had two years remaining on the deal he signed when the Jets made him a first-round draft pick in 2009. The contract extension is for $40.5 million, giving him five total years for $58.25 million, with $20.5 million fully guaranteed.

After a sub-par season from Sanchez and the Jets offensives line, most believed the team would not offer Sanchez an extension. Now that they have made him the future of team hopefully the next step is to upgrade the offensive line.  Wayne Hunter is not the answer at tackle.  All season long Sanchez was under duress, scrambling for his life.

Now that Payton Manning is an afterthought the Jets can focus on making a run at some of the premiere free agents to shore up their defense.  The key component would be a pass rusher, someone who can get after the opposing quarterback.  Last season the Jets were near the bottom of the league in sacks. I’m sure the front office knows that and will do what they have to in order to upgrade the team.

The signing of Tony Soprano will bring some excitement to the offense, a much needed addition to an offense that struggled mightily last season in the red zone.
