Tebow Mania

NY Jets: What a scene here at the Jets Training facility in Florham Park, NJ  as scores of media await the arrival of Tim Tebow.  Tebow officially became a Jet on Saturday after final papers were filed with league office.  Now it’s what most were calling a media circus.  Jets head coach Rex Ryan will not be present at today’s press conference due to league meetings in Florida.

NY Jets ownership believe the signing of Tebow will not be a distraction to the goals of the team nor Marc Sanchez.  How can this not be a distraction to the team when your back-up quarterback draws more attention than the signing of your starting quarterback?  Some of the Jets players are calling this a bad signing.  When players on your team don’t believe in the direction the team is headed, how can this be good for the locker room?

Is this just a popularity signing to attract more fans and sell more tickets?  Former NY Jet Joe Namath called the signing “ridiculous.”  He was quoted saying the Jets ownership has no idea what they are doing and that this could be a bad move for the franchise.  As soon as Marc Sanchez has a bad start or throws a couple of interceptions, the call from the fans will be “We Want Tebow!”

Hopefully the Jets brass has really thought this over, and have devised a plan to combat any quarterback controversy.  There is little doubt that this will happen at some point during the season.
