NY Jets: It’s the final rehearsal for the Jets as they prepare for their opening game of the 2012 season.  The Jets host the Car0lina Panthers and Cam Newton on Sunday night.  The Jets defense looked a little out of sync,  allowing the Panthers to move the ball down the field.  The Panthers would score on their first possession as Cam Newton drove the team down the field, ending in a 32-yard field goal.

On the Jets first possession Marc Sanchez looked sharp connecting with Justin Keller for 21 yards and Stephen Hill for 10 yards.  Keller would leave the game with a hamstring pull.  The much maligned offensive line appears to have worked out the kinks, allowing Sanchez the time he needs to survey the field and find open receivers.

With Keller sidelined for the remainder of the game Josh Baker, the second year tight-end out of Northwest Missouri State, will be pressed into the starting lineup.  Baker will play a key role in their passing game as Sanchez often looks for his tight-ends.

Early in the second quarter, the Jets offense revved it up as Sanchez connected with Santonio Holmes twice for two first downs.  Unfortunately for the Jets, the drive would only lead to another field goal.  The Jets would lose another key player as Josh Baker went down with a knee injury.

Sanchez would start the first series of the 2nd half, but the offense was unable to score a touchdown. The Jets are the only team in the NFL pre-season without an offensive touchdown.  Tebow started the next series, adding some spark to the offense but the Jets still were unable to score a touchdown.

Marc Sanchez was 11 for 18 and 123 yards as the Jets continue to struggle, losing to the Panthers 17 t0 12.  After the game Sanchez said “we still haven’t unveiled our total offense, we look forward to opening day.”
