Jets Offense Struggles

ByVernon McKenzie

NYJets:  The Jets are back in Cortland, NY after a disappointing performance in Cincinnati.  The starting offensive line looked out of sync, not allowing Mark Sanchez the time needed to survey the field, to make the proper reads.  Sanchez was sacked on the Jets first offensive possession.

Tebow was the only positive factor in this pre-season opener. Tebow completed his first pass, a 12-yarder to second-round draft pick Stephen Hill, who’s aiming for a starting spot across from Santonio Holmes. Tebow scrambled twice for a total of 24 yards on a drive to Josh Brown’s 42-yard field goal.

It appears that the Jets offense needs lots of work.  Mark Sanchez went 4 of 6 for 21 yards in the first quarter.  Sanchez said the offense will get things going, which will open up the passing game.  The running game still needs work.  Sean Green can only be as good as the offensive line will allow him to be.  If the offense continues to struggle then the “Ground and Pound” offensive scheme will continue to struggle as well.

The Jets will face the defending SuperBowl champion, the NY Giants, in their second pre-season game on Saturday. Although it is a pre-season game, I’m sure the Jets would like to preform better than they did in the loss to the Bengals (17-6).
