Saturday’s dress rehearsal started off on the right foot for the New York Jets in week 3 of the preseason. The Jets defeated the Giants 28-18 in a game where the starting teams played the entire first half. David Harris led the Jets defense forcing the Giants to punt on their first two drives. Feeling the pressure up front from the Jets D-line, Eli and the Giants offense were held to only one successful drive. Adding to the bright spots was CB Antonio Cromartie with a 59 yard interception returned for a TD.

The win of the day for the Jets was the Jets’ Offense- Ryan Fitzpatrick, the starting quarterback and the receivers Marshall, and Decker were all on the same page. The two receivers combined for 85 yards on 6 receptions and scored one of the two touchdowns thrown by Fitzpatrick. The Jets receiving core also had several key blocks to free up running backs, Ivory and Stacey who combined for 98 yards on 19 carries. It wasn’t just the receivers who had a great day of blocking. The Jets offensive line delivered in both passing and run blocking.

“I think we’ve got some veteran guys up there and they’re working well together. It’s nice to hand off the ball and see the kind of holes that we’ve been seeing. I thought we did some good things out there,” said Fitzpatrick. “Then there’s always going to be things that we can take from that performance and try to work on and do better.”

All signs of good things to come with just one more preseason game to go against the Philadelphia Eagles on Thursday Night Football. The Jets have one more week to iron out the roster and fine tune the team before the season begins, but it certainly seems that they are on the right track.
