Lundqvist makes 38 saves; Rangers beat Isles indoors 4-1

Henrik Lundqvist stood tall in net, making 38 saves as the Rangers took control in the later part of third to edge the Islanders 4-1.

Minutes after honoring Sam Rosen for his 30 years as the Rangers broadcaster, Brian Boyle gave the Rangers the early lead with a great deflection from a shot off the stick of Marc Staal. That was Boyle’s 4th goal of the season.

Kyle Okposo scored the lone second period goal for the Islanders moments after a power play drained all the energy out of the rangers. Lundqvist tried to grab a puck out of midair and it deflection to a waiting Okposo for the open net goal.

After 10 minutes of back and fouth action the rangers finally got the lead back after Marc Staal again made a great play to keep the puck and fed it to an open Brassard. Soon after captain Ryan Callahan fed teammate Brad Richard for a semi breakaway goal. Later, Ryan McDonagh would add the empty net goal.

Did You Know? : Brian Boyle scored the 50th goal of his career. Brassard and Nash combined for 15 shots.
