NETS Eye Grizzles’ Head Coach Lionel Hollins!

By: Free Gola

The Nets are wasting no time in their pursuit of a new head coach after firing former head coach, Avery Johnson.  Reports suggest that they’ve put in a bid for current Memphis Grizzles coach Lionel Hollins. Hollins’ contract with the Grizzles will expire this June if Memphis decides not to extend his contract.  All sings point to Hollins’ exit in the near future seeing as his relationship with the front office has become strenuous at best.  Hollins and the front  office have had serious disagreements about how to advance the team and continue building the franchise.  Although Hollins is currently in the midst of coaching a second round playoff matchup, there is a strong possibility that the Nets will be able to attain Hollins this offseason and begin their quest for yet another playoff birth come 2014.

Though the Nets have tried and failed to lure Phil Jackson out of retirement, they offer plenty incentive for any coach on the market. The Nets are able and willing to offer a great deal of money to any head coach they attain this offseason, making the unnamed coach one of the highest paid in the league. Of course things will get a lot more interesting for the front office once the NBA season is officially over, as they will be permitted to actively pursue much more option. Whether or not Hollins is the best option for the Nets is yet to be determined!
