New York Giants

New York Giants superstar running back Saquon Barkley has returned to his Giants uniform giving everyone in the organization a sigh of relief. Since his return, Barkley’s been involved in almost every facet of the offense. Despite his absence, Giants quarterback Daniel Jones and Barkley have a unique bond and rely on one another to succeed. During seven versus seven passing drills, Jones continuously found Barkley whether it been down the field or in the flats.

“We’re thrilled to have him back,” Jones stated. “It was a challenging situation for him, I’m just glad we got it worked out. He’s an incredible leader on this team and means so much to this group.”

Naturally, Barkley’s teammates were asked about his impact and meaning on the Giants, ultimately resulting in high praise from Jones. However, Jones discussed expectations and holding one another accountable.

“I think there are expectations for any position on the field, certainly quarterback,” Jones continued. “My job is to put the team in situations to win games, I’ve always had high expectations for myself and I’d expect others to have that also.

New York Giants Addition of Saquon Barkley to the Young Core

The Giants are surrounded by weapons and talented young players with a developing quarterback. Despite the inexperience, the key piece to the puzzle is back and will allow opportunities for growth amongst everyone within the offense. Some believe that Barkley has the power to elevate or lower the production of Jones.

Last season, the Giants heavily relied on the run game to help utilize Jones’ strengths. However, there were sparks of Jones’ confidence peaking through and helping put the G Men in the position to succeed late in games. That said, the team may have benefited from having him involved in summer camp, however he jokingly states he had an epiphany.

“I had an epiphany,” Barkley states. “No, the reality of it is I followed my heart, obviously I heard what everyone was saying, but I just continued to follow my heart. Then, looking at it from a business point, … the value of the running back is going down and someone’s got to make it change. God willing, I can be the reason for the change.”

Last season, some believe the Giants overachieved with an underwhelming roster in a very strenuous division. Therefore, the Giants aren’t looking to move backward, instead of forward with their progress. The Giants continue to prove to be competitive and improving on a daily basis, ultimately making Jones confident and this young core grow as well.

“We’ve got a number of players who are now been here for a few years and understand what it means to be a New York Giant,” Jones elaborates. “We’ve got a great group of leaders and young guys who embody the culture and take to that every day.”
