NY Giants:  The defending Super Bowl champion NY Giants opened the regular season last night at MetLife Stadium against divisional rival Dallas Cowboys, a highly anticipated game for both teams.  It was the Giants who ended the Cowboys season last year.  Even with all the hype leading up to last night’s game the Giants were considered the better team.

There is an old saying: “That’s why they play the game.”  The Giants scored first on a 36-yard field goal by Lawrence Tynes to put the Giants up 3-o at the end of the first quarter.  It was a defensive battle in the first half as both teams struggled to sustain any type of offensive flow.

All that would change in the second half as the Cowboys started to get an offensive flow.  Tony Romo was key in the Cowboys’ success making plays with his arm and his feet.  As he avoided the Giants’ defensive pressure to find open receivers. The Cowboys would score two touchdowns in the third quarter to take a 14-to-10 lead.

The Giants offense continue to struggle in the 2nd half with reliable players like Victor Cruz, who had three drops in the game, were a little out of sync.  Defensively, the Giants failed to get key stops when needed, allowing the Cowboys to build a 1- point lead with 6:30 left in the fourth Quarter.

The Giants would score on their last possession but it was a little too late as the Cowboys won 24 to 17.
