For those people who were watching the Giants vs Colts game Friday night and shut off their TV at halftime, or say even the third quarter, will probably tell you that the Giants lost bad. If you ask those that actually were fan enough to sit through the whole game’s entirety. They will tell you that they sat through either a terrible collapse or an inspiring comeback, depending on who they were a fan of.

Heading into the fourth quarter of the game the G-Men were looking at a 26 point deficit. Oh and I should mention that the Colts had 26 total points in the game. You got it three quarters into the game and the Giants failed to tally a single point. Finally Giant’s backup and former Indianapolis Colt, Curtis Painter, completed a 3yd TD pass to Kellen Davis with about 10 minutes left in the game. Then literally 16 seconds after the TD pass Giant’s Spencer Adkins recovered a fumble in the Colt’s end zone to make it 14-26 Colts.

It finally seemed like the Giant’s had their own luck and could possibly make a comeback against Indy’s backups. Ryan Nassib entered the game and did just that. Nassib conducted two TD leading drives in the final four minutes of the game, one run from Michael Cox and the other was a catch from Corey Washington. This got the Giants the 27-26 point win over the Colts.

What It Means

It means absolutely NOTHING. The fact is the Giants as a whole were down 20-0 at halftime and their supposedly stout defense allowed 177 yards in the first two quarters, struggled to force punts, and Quintin Demps even lost a fumble on a kickoff return. Luck went 12 of 18 for 89 yards and one TD all without TY Hilton and Reggie Wayne. And when it rains it pours they say. To make the night feel even worse for the Giants and Giant’s fans, Hakeem Nicks looked like he has been playing with Andrew Luck for years. Nicks caught five passes for 53 yards and a few goodbye waves to former teammates along the way.

The Giants didn’t make it through the game especially healthy, either. Cornerback Prince Amukamara (groin), defensive tackle Markus Kuhn (elbow), safety Cooper Taylor (toe) and tackle Charles Brown (shoulder) all left the game with injuries and did not return.

On the bright side Eli Manning improved going 1-7 for 6 yards and an interception that was overturned due to an Indianapolis penalty. Hey! Don’t look at me and say that it isn’t an improvement from last game because last game he went 0-2. Manning struggled yet again in the team’s new system. Both their short and mid-range passes were being broken up and even the run game struggled to find it’s step. Tom Coughlin was definitely frustrated when it came to seeing production from the the teams starters on Friday.

“We are realists, and looking at what looked to be a very poor performance in the first half with the 1s that didn’t really get a lot better once the 2s came in,” Giants coach Tom Coughlin said. “It wasn’t impressive at all. We didn’t get a whole lot done. There’s no production. There’s nothing to look at from a production standpoint.”

The team’s next game will be back in MetLife Stadium vs their hometown rivals NY Jets. It will most likely be the last chance for the starters to make an impression before the season opens up on Monday Sept. 8th in Detroit.
