EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Training camp is in full swing, and the New York Giants are primed to put last season behind them. The optimism was high from the crowd. which was also in attendance for practice. The “ooohs and aaahhs” were not in a shortage, as the competition was high from both sides of the ball.
The start of practice was definitely sloppy to say the least. Eli Manning botched a horrible snap, and there were a couple dropped passes from receivers. This is all to be expected at the beginning of training camp.
Golden Tate has been in the media for his potential four game suspension. However, the good thing about practice is he has an outlet away from that attention. Tate showed that he is in great shape, and showcased his strong hands and route running.
Manning and Tate have looked nice working on their connection early. Another person to look out for is Da’Mari Scott. Scott has shown good speed, and all afternoon was getting behind the defense. It will be interesting to see if he can play his way into a significant role.
Jabril Peppers was active all through out practice, and can really fill holes quickly. Bethea has shown veteran leadership early by coaching from the sidelines. Peppers and Antoine Bethea have been key additions for the Giants secondary.
Training camp continues on Sunday for the Giants. Each day is one step closer to Week 1, so it’s important for the Giants to take each rep critically.
