Jets Prevale Over Saints

NY Jets: What a tremendous game for the New York Jets, defeating the NFC South’s number 1 team, the New Orleans Saints, 26-20.  After an embarrassing game against the Cincinnati Bengals last week, the Jets bounced right back and showed more heart and effort than ever shocking the Saints.  The Jets performed and delivered exactly the way they needed to against these guys who bleed black and gold.

Geno Smith salvaged his fantasy day with a pretty 3-yard touchdown run in the second quarter, but he was asked to just manage the game.  Smith threw for just 115 yards on 19 attempts. However, Smith didn’t commit a single turnover, and he made some nifty plays to avoid the New Orleans pass rush.

Yesterday was more like the Chris Ivory show as the ex-Saint shredded his old team with ease, pushing the Jets to a 5-4 record as they head into their bye. Maybe that’s why Jets coach Rex Ryan named Ivory a captain for the game. Ivory was like the energizer bunny, as soon as he was turned on, Ivory just kept running and running and running. He couldn’t help but crack a smile when asked about his performance; 139 rushing yards on 18 carries and a touchdown which lead to New York’s 26-20 victory against Drew Brees and the saints.

The Jets can definitely consider the playoffs a possibility now. They tend to do well when the running game is humming, which started during the second offensive series against the Saints when Ivory reeled off a 27- yard run.  “We know if he’s healthy, this young man has the ability to be a punch-you-in-the-face type of back,” Ryan said.  And of course The Jets defense was nothing short of spectacular yesterday, especially in the late stages.

QB Brees was never comfortable in the pocket, as the Jets defensive line continually overpowered the Saints and exploded into the backfield. The secondary also came up with two big interceptions (made by Cromartie and Davis) which made the difference. It was a huge bounce-back performance by the pass defense.

“We are definitely going to lose in the bye week, no question about that, we are going to lose that game,” said sarcastic humorous Rex Ryan about their win-lose pattern.  They most certainly deserve a little rest after a humongous performance at MetLife Stadium.
