New York: My name is Vernon McKenzie I’m the owner of PureSportsNY. The only African American owned Sports Outlet in New York. In the fall of 2008 I created a grassroots venture known as PureSportsNY. The Idea formulated after working for WNBC Sports Local News here in New York City.
Journalist of color are under represented in this field. PureSportsNY, provides a platform for recent college graduates to continue perfecting their crafts. Over the years I have been fortunate to see their growth, as some of the young adults have gone on to achieve their dream job working for the NBA, NFL, MLB, and Sirius Radio.
Those in position to provide access to young people should do everthing possible to extend a helping hand. PureSportsNY highlights New York sports, the teams, the athletes their lives and their philanthropic endeavors.
