The Knicks playoff hopes are diminishing day by day. The Knicks lost to the Golden State Warriors as they were defeated in another home game last night at Madison Square Garden. At 21-38 the Knicks now sit six games back behind the eighth place Atlanta Hawks for the final eastern conference playoff spot. The Knicks have now lost their last five games dropping 10 of their last 12.

For the second straight year, Stephen Curry had a dominating game at the world’s most famous arena. Last year, Curry went off on the Knicks totaling a career high 54 points, however the result of that game was a loss against a Knick team who was having a much different season at this point last year. Friday night Curry had a triple double while scoring 27 points, 11 assists, and 11 rebounds.

The Warriors scored 38 points in the first quarter and by half time they had a lead of 73-52. The Knicks would fail to get back in the game as the Warriors beat the Knicks in blow out fashion 126-103. Golden State shot over 47 percent from the field while having five players in double figures. Klay Thompson was Golden State’s second leading scorer totaling 25 points on the night.

The Knicks had another rough night despite being carried on the play of star Carmelo Anthony. Anthony scored 23 points and had 16 rebounds on the night. Tim Hardaway Jr. had 22 points and JR Smith would add 17 points to the Knicks total. Tyson Chandler would gather 12 rebounds despite picking up a second technical foul resulting in an ejection in the fourth quarter. In Raymond Felton’s first game back at the Garden since being arrested on gun charges, he would get a mix of cheers and boos from the crowd in his introduction before the game. The most glaring stat of the night was that Knicks center Tyson Chandler was tied for the lead in assists with three. The Knicks were without Iman Shumpert, Kenyon Martin, Andrea Bargnani, and Amare’ Stoudemire as they were

After getting blow out two nights in a row against the Heat and Warriors the Knicks will keep fighting as they take on the Bulls Sunday in Chicago. The season has been a roller coaster ride for the Knicks with many distractions. It looks as if playing for pride may be a theme for New York for the rest of the season as they continue to fall out of playoff contention.
