Denver Nuggets Bench Too Much for Nets

Denver Nuggets 111 Brooklyn Nets 87 F

Extending their winning streak to seven games, the Denver Nuggets second unit helped the road team pummel the Nets at the Barclays Center. Timofey Mozgov recorded his second double-double of the season, by finishing the night with 17 points and a career-high 20 rebounds. The game was decided in the third quarter when the Nuggets went on a 15-0 run to open the game up. Brooklyn went cold in the third quarter, shooting only 4-15 from the field. Newark native and fellow big man Kenneth Faried added 15 points to help aid the Nuggets win.

In the loss, Joe Johnson had 22 points for the Nets. Paul Pierce and Deron Williams both sat out the game. Pierce is expected to miss 2-4 weeks with a broken right hand and Williams is dealing with a sprained ankle.

Note: Prior to the game, Assistant Coach Lawrence Frank was reassigned by Nets coach Jason Kidd to writing “daily reports” for the team. The new role will mean that Frank will no longer sit on the bench at games or be at practices. Frank was brought on to the staff to assist the first-year head coach Kidd with defensive philosophies.
